Title: Rose Filling Cups

After an hour, Kazuko returned upstairs quietly to eat his cold dinner. Sitting on the sofa watching him was Satomi quietly. Kazuko nibbled on his food a bit, then lightly rubbed his bandaid and sighed.
“So what happened?”
Kazuko turned to look at Satomi. “Oh... You waited for me?”
Satomi shrugged with a nod. “The cut?”
“…I just cut my finger cutting the vegetables earlier is all.” Kazuko said simply.
“Does Satomi getting married hurt you that much?”
It took a second but Kazuko nodded, then paused and said “Mmhmm… It’s one thing to be hated by him… He’d still know who I am.. But to be completely forgotten?”
“That’s too cruel?”
Kazuko nodded again.
Satomi got up and walked over to Kazuko slowly, looking at the bandaid. “Does it hurt?”
“My finger or my heart?”
“Both..”
“My finger doesn’t hurt much anymore… but my heart aches.” Kazuko sighed, hanging his head.
“Mine too.”
“Your heart?” Kazuko looked up to Satomi.
Satomi nodded with an inward smile. “Yeah. My heart aches pretty badly right now.”
“Why?”
Satomi looked at Kazuko for a moment, trying to figure out how to phrase it. “The person I love can’t see what’s right in front of him.”
“What do you mean?”
“He’s off in love with someone else, who’s exactly like me… And he can’t seem to realize that.”
Kazuko nodded slowly, “Maybe you should tell him?”
“He asked me once if I loved him, but at the time I was stupid.”
“What’d you say?”
“I told him no.” Satomi shrugged, resting his arms on the counter. “I should’ve told him something like I’m not sure…”
Kazuko and Satomi stood in silence while Kazuko finished eating. After he was done Satomi shifted toward him.
“I’m gonna stay the night, that ok?”
Kazuko nodded, “Sure.. Why wouldn’t it be? You’re Saren’s family.”
“I meant okay with you.”
“Why…?”
“Can’t you see the ghosts haunting me?”
“Yes, but those ones are harmless.” Kazuko chuckled. “They’re like… good spirits, to keep you safe from evil ones.”
“Ah…” Satomi nodded, not understanding the difference.
