The Letter 17

[[ The Letter ]]
{ seventeen }

Aki shook his head, “Uh… I’ll be the one.” The maid nodded and led Aki upstairs, while the rest of them were looking around the foyer.

“Here is his master’s room.” She said with a bow, standing by Hito’s bedroom door.

“Thanks…” Aki said to her with a nod. She bowed again and walked back down the hall to the stairs.

After she was gone, Aki gently knocked on the door, then opened it slowly. He looked around the room of white slowly, and walked in after a few seconds. He closed the door gently, and started to look around more.

He saw the bag under a table, then the lump in the bed. Amused, Aki chuckled, walking over to the bed. Unsure how to do this properly, he stared at the lump.

A moment later, he gave up with proper ideas and just jumped onto the lump full force.

Hito yelped being flattened, and wrestled from the other side of the blankets to shove Aki off. Aki just let Hito shift enough to pull down the covers to see who it was, then pressed their noses together.

“Hey.” Aki said with a soft smile.

Hito blinked, “A-Aki..? What are you…?”

Just then the bedroom door burst open, and a young man about Aki’s height walked in. He had no shirt, baggy pants, heavy boots, flight goggles on top of his head and red spiked bangs going back into a long braid. The man rested his red eyes on Aki and then jumped up, tackling Aki off of Hito and to the floor.

“Hey what are you doing to Hito!” He shouted.

Aki fought back, the two wrestling and punching at each other. “I was just saying hello!! Get off!”

Hito sat up, watching the two fight for a few minutes before speaking. “Uh… Will you two stop before you break something?”

The red head looked back to Hito, “But he—“

“He’s a friend, Pheonix.”

The red head looked to Aki then to Hito, then to Aki. “Friend, huh?” He straightened up. “So what were you doing on Hito?”

“I just was trying to wake him up.” Aki said, crossing his arms.

“Ever try just shaking him?”

“Too boring.” Aki admitted, looking to the other.

Pheonix chuckled, “True.” He shrugged, “I’m Pheonix. Hito’s best friend since we were kids.”

“And the weirdest.” Hito giggled.

“Hey, my home’s as good as any other.”

Hito shook his head, “You live in a shack at the back of a graveyard.”

“So?”

Aki waved his arms, “Hey can I have a moment with Hito alone, please?”

“Why?” Pheonix asked, crossing his arms.

“Cause I need to talk to him.”

“Anything you have to say to him, you can say to me.” Pheonix nodded, “Right, Hito?”

Hito shook his head, “Pheonix? Please…?”

Pheonix gasped, grabbing at his heart. “Oh I’m hurt Hito~ But fine! Don’t you dare hurt him!” And with that the red head closed the door after he left.

Aki sighed, “Who was that?”

“My childhood friend.” Hito answered. “He paid for my tuition.”

“That guy?”

Hito nodded, “He’s a genius with computers and weapons.”

“What does he work as?”

“A weapon’s specialist for the mafia here.”

Aki grumbled, scratching his hair. “Oh great…”

Hito tilted his head, “Aki…?”

Aki turned to him slowly, “I wanted to talk to you about that letter…” Hito nodded a bit, shifting the covers off of him. “I really liked it. It made me feel… wanted.” He shrugged, “I’m not sure if I like you the same way or not… but I’d like to find out, if you’ll let me?”

Hito shook his head. “I’ll only get in a monogamous relationship.”

“Meaning..?”

“One relationship my whole life.”

“Dedicated huh?” Aki chuckled. Hito nodded. “Well… I don’t mind. I guess I can be that dedicated, too.”

Hito tilted his head to the side, “You really think you can be?”

Aki shrugged, “I’m not sure… What? Do I look the playboy-type?”

“No… But Pheonix does.” Hito said with a smile. He thought a moment and nodded slightly, “…How about on a time?”

“Time?”

Hito nodded very strictly, “I’ll give you until winter, kay? That’s three seasons. Think you can manage?”

Aki nodded slowly. “Sure, I guess.”
